I upgraded from Q2010 because they quit supporting older versions if you wait too long, and they introduced some new mobile app features. 2014 is OK, but marginally worth it They also made the one step update a bit annoying, in that it now must complete the entire update process before you can do anything else…won’t run in the background. :-(

I do a lot of photo and video editing and have never had a program this unstable. It crashes often, particularly when editing titles or menues. The good news is that when it works, it is decent for video editing and DVD production. It’s capture features are average. Also, when it crashes, it restarts to where you were in the editing process with minimal loss of progress…just lost time. If Pinnacle fixed the stability, I would give it 4 stars at least.

I wouldn’t use anything else. Easy to use, free e file for multiple returns, accurate. As long as the tax system remains the complicated mess it is, I will continue to use Turbo Tax.

Beware Norton 2006. I have used Norton Antivirus (and more recently Internet Security Suite) for at least 5 or 6 years. I needed to renew my Norton 2005 subscription recently, so I downloaded an upgrade to NIS 2006, paid by credit card, and started the install. Huge mistake…I should have done some internet research first. Bottom line, the installation never worked, uninstall never worked, and worse, it corrupted my registry. Finally I was forced to reinstall Windows XP and all of my major applications that write to the registry, a lengthy and frustrating process.

Have used TT for years. Always purchase at a discount. I hear complaints of TT shorting some forms trying to push you to a more expensive product, but I was not affected.

Ive been a fan of Pinnacle Studio products for several versions now. I find the user interface to be intuitive and the potential results to be pretty cool stuff from semi-skilled or even amateur hands. I had had tremendous problems installing prior versions of Studio, but 18 worked easily on the first try for me (on a machine that had had prior versions of Studio installed on it, for what its worth your mileage may vary).

The Corel Photo and Video Pro X4 Ultimate Bundle combines photo and video processing/editing suites into one bundle. The two programs work very reilably, offering the most frequently-used editing techniques - not quite Adobe firepower, but a great fit for most users’ needs, particularly at the price. For photos, you can layer images and apply brushes and other texturing techniques. The video suite can handle source standard- or high-definition material and allows simple yet powerful editing - the add-ons included also permit very nice-looking on-screen titling.
