I’m not sure why this software exists to begin with, since there are plenty of free applications which do everything Corel offers here. I was willing to give it a shot anyway, but was unable to since the software failed to even install on the Windows 7 machine I use for photo/video operations. The install process hung multiple times and I gave up after spending an hour trying to use it.

While this version is great, note that the new and updated 2010 version has been released, making this one obsolete.

The Microsoft approach to business software continues to offer a vast array of options, of which the average user will only use 20%. Office accounting Professional is no exception. There are a lot of great features here, and they are included in the price even if you never plan to use them. The latest Accounting offering from Microsoft almost anything you’d expect from Peachtree or a similar competitor. Microsoft was late to this game, but they definitely did their homework.

My norton internet security suite is running out [expiring]. I bought zone alarm 4 pro, which has a $10 rebate. The terms of the rebate truly sux because these pukes want your competitor’s diskette or CD rom disc media. [Note: what if I roundfile ZA4 after a month or two. Now I can’t update my norton or mcafee under the manufacturer’s update program, becuase I no longer have a CD rom to make a photocopy of, as proof of purchase].

I renewed yet again. This product has been the best overall anti-malware proram, based upon my experience. Nice thing about anti-malware software is that multiple programs can be used on the same pc (though I would avoid having more than one real-time scanners set to load at startup). Therefore I can scan once with webroot, then next time with xcleaner, then another time with adaware. I also have usednn- mcafee - (yuck) 1 starnn- spysubtract by intermute (now a part of trent micro) -4 starsnn- Xcleaner - I liked it as a utility pkg more than only for it’s anti-malware detection and cleanup.

The recent sale of this on amazon for $30 made it a easy to justify purchase.nEven MS’s student pricing was like $80 or $90, the last time I bought Office 2007. I’m not a power user, but I did want a PDF creator in my next office suite.nWordperfect’s pdf utility does everything I need. So far I have been able to open my old MS word doc’s and spreadsheets without problems.

Trend Smart Surfing for Macn——————————————nLike many of the other reviewers, I have been thankful that my Mac has been virus-free… But ya never know. Just because Apple has a smaller market share, it doesn’t mean that programs won’t be written to zap Macs. Still. it’s hard to judge the effectiveness of this software, since there aren’t any malicious viruses aimed at Macs (that I know of). The program installs easily, runs well and says that everything is okay.

If Microsoft and Apple are going to force us to buy Word, can’t they at least make the program work without being so damn buggy? Word’s persistently bossy auto-formating and general kloodgy bugginess has been going on for years and years – why is this still the case?? These people are making gazillions of dollars off this stuff, so why can’t they get the basics right and stop driving customers batty?
