This is easily the most comprehensive language instruction package I’ve ever seen. With four separate units, each split into several different sections – including listening, speaking, vocabulary and grammar – Rosetta Stone provides hours and hours of easy-to-use instruction in learning to speak the Italian language like an expert. A language package like this requires the user to be a self-starter. There’s nobody pushing you to use it or assessing your performance.

This is going to be an unsatisfactory review, because despite repeated attempts and the assistance of tech support, I was not able to get this new version of Microsoft Outlook to work with my business email server. It worked fine with the previous version of Outlook, but this time around it was a no go. The program itself seemed okay. But one big drawback is that it appears you need to be running Office 2007 in order to get full functionality out of this program.

This looks like it would be a good product, with a useful suite of features. But the version Amazon sent me didn’t include a registration code, so I couldn’t install it on my computer. I tore the box apart looking for it, scrutinizing each scrap, but it just wasn’t there. Very frustrating.

If you’ve been wanting to learn Spanish, but not sure you should shell out for Rosetta Stone, this product makes a nice alternative. It’s not a comprehensive guide to learning the language. There’s no attempts, really, to teach grammar or to build a fluency in the language. It does, however, teach a great deal of conversational Spanish that you could put to use in real-life situations. One thing to note: this product teaches Spanish with a Catalan accent – the kind of Spanish spoken in Spain.

Bitdefender has a nice assortment of features, but from my experience, this package just wasn’t ready for the market. I hardly even had the opportunity to test out the software because it crashed my computer almost immediately after install. Back to McAfee for me… I don’t love McAfee, but it’s better than this.

I’ve been running McAfee’s anti-virus and anti-spyware software for quite a while now and am satisfied with the product. It does the job it’s billed to do without causing any of the slowdown problems that can be a problem when using software of this type. I elected not to use the other features of this software package – which include a firewall and anti-spam protection, among other things – so I can’t comment on them.
