I have worked in the computer security/information assurance professional for nearly 30 years and have been asked to review just about every possible personal firewall and/or virus protection product. This product is a good product for a person that casually surfs the net and checks their own email but it has a difficult time with some websites that are clearly non invasive. For a person that visits riskier sites, e.g., warez sites this would not be a good choice a security software.

I don’t use this product. I got it to evaluate and, to some extent, compare it to Legacy Family Tree. Family Tree Maker has lots of really cool bells and whistles but I found it a bit cumbersone. The views are nice but not a large enough print for my old eyes to see well. On the other hand Legacy is too big. I have done genealogy for over 30 years and have thousands of family members in my database.

I got this version of Nero 2014 because I have owned Nero since version 1. I had read a review that said that their were certain add-ins that installed and couldn’t be uninstalled. I read every popup that has been displayed and have had so such problems. As for the product. There are a number of new features one being video editing. I worked with it for over an hour and found it to be mediocre at best.

This product allows the average hobbyist to catalog and edit photos easily. It is a straight forward application that is easily learned and used. One of the problems with any photo program is that they don’t present accurate color. This is primarily due to monitors not the application with which it is manipulated. A key point is to know your printer and calibrate it with your monitor. I can highly recommend this application for those who are looking for an inexpensive photo cataloging and simple editing program

I was running Iolo System Mechanic, but it just wasn’t doing the job. In fact, it was causing way more problems than it resolved. I decided to gives te McAfee Internet Security Suite 2008 a try. I’ve installed it on two computers so far. Both are Gateway laptops. The program was easy to install and I encountered no errors. On one laptop it actually found several viruses that the Iolo product had missed.

I’ve used a few different versions of Pinnacle Studio and have had the same experience with all of them. It has great tools and some nice extras (audio tracks, etc), but I’ve never found the interface to be particularly user-friendly. Once you get used to it, you can put together some great, professional-quality videos. It’s just the getting used to it part that is frustrating. The help files aren’t all that helpful when you are just starting out.

This program is very good for 2D work. It is very powerful and has a lot of tools. I am new to AutoCAD and did have trouble getting used to it at first. I asked a friend with more AutoCAD experience to give it a try and give me his impression. He also liked it and felt it was good for 2D work. That being said, he also felt that he preferred his older version (2002) and said he wasn’t interested in upgrading.

I’ve used this software to create a few videos. Once I figured out how to use it, it has worked okay, not great, but okay. My system well exceeds the system requirements, yet the software runs slow and is unstable. It has crashed on me a number of times. I have also found that it is not particularly user-friendly. It took a lot of trial and error before I figured out how to do simple things like mute a videos existing audio track and record my own.

I’ve used several versions of Dragon NaturallySpeaking, including the previous three versions. I don’t see a lot of difference between v10 and v11. The software works fine, but the response is a little slow. My computer is fine and runs all other software without any problem, so I feel confident it is not my computer. When I run Dragon 11, it seems to take a second or two before executing any commands.

The only good thing I can say about this is that it comes with an ancestory.com trial. The previous versions were better. The menus and options have changed, and not in a good way. Things that used to be easy are now convoluted. I would not recommend it.
