Norton product that does what it should. Quickly, easily, no fuss. Different O/S (Win7, XP and well, Vista - if you can call Vista an O/S) on different platforms (netbook, desktop, laptop).

Had Norton for years; Internet Security for 1⁄2 of that time. Never had an issue with virus/malware, etc. It does the dirty work of keeping your system clean for you. Wouldn’t be caught without it.

(I’m posting the same review for Premier and H&B, since I used both initially, and my reactions were the same.)nnI downloaded TT Premier, and upgraded to Home & Business. The program is necessarily incomplete at this point, but was good enough to allow me to do a preliminary assessment for year-end financial decisions.
I had no trouble at all with download, installation, import of last year’s return, or usage. All worked fine without any problems.

(Note: This review also shows up in the reviews for the download version. Don’t ask me why Amazon doesn’t show the reviews in both places for what’s really the same product, with just different delivery mechanisms. I bought the box version, if you want to know.)nnThis part written Dec 9, 2009 (see updated comments below)nnThis is of course a preliminary review (written Dec 9 based on use in the last few days).

There’s not a lot that’s obviously changed in this version from Office 2007. (See […] for detailed descriptions of changes.)nnBut I do like the improvements in the ribbon: firstly, you can hide it, to get more usable screen; secondly, you can customize it! Both of these were missing features in Office 2007, desired by many (if not most) users.
There are also some security improvements that are useful: e.g., Word opens downloaded files in a protected mode; PowerPoint allows presentations to be restricted from editing/copying.

I just finished my federal/state return on TurboTax and the experience motivates me to seek an alternate supplier for my next year’s filing.
To my surprise, this year’s edition of TurboTax appears to be harder to use, more cumbersome, less trustworthy than the previous year’s.
- Entries that I had little difficulty filing last year - local income tax (yes, we have that) paid to the local tax collector but not recorded on the W2 - were buried in a maze of difficult to comprehend options hiding behind the cheerful, ‘easy to use’ interface.

Absent a much higher end and usually much more expensive tool, CyberLynk’s PhotoDirector 5 does the job as an editor but it’s not even remotely as easy or quick as it claims to be. I won’t be using it as a content manager.
Yes, you can manage photos but it’s not ‘effortlessly’. My main problem with most tools that offer to do content ‘management’ on my behalf is that they claim to know the ‘right way’ which is usually their own rigid way of imposing ‘order’ into my private universe and it tends to clash with ‘my way’.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking’s ability to recognize and properly interpret spoken words within the context they are spoken makes it a useful tool when it comes to dictation (speech to text), controlling a Windows computer, interacting with applications such as Internet Browsers and search engines, the Microsoft Office suite of apps and, through proper customization, just about any Windows app.
After a couple of weeks of experiencing the Dragon, words that come to mind to describe my impressions would be: well-thought, mature, polished, complex, depth, cutting edge, features rich, trainable, expandable, artificially intelligent, versatile.
