CorelDraw Suite X5: Home and Student is designed to provide low cost access to the CorelDraw product for folks that will be using it for nonprofit (educational, personal, volunteer) applications. Since it contains many of the features of the full professional version, there is a bit of a learning curve, so if you want to do very simple drawings you’ll probably want to stick with something that is a little simpler to learn (and there are free programs, such as OpenOffice Draw, that can fit this bill).
The only other limitations relative to the full professional version is that some features are turned off in the home and student package. One thing that is a little bit annoying is that it is a bit difficult to figure out exactly what is turned off, as the documentation certainly doesn’t provide a clear listing and some of the help files reference disabled functions. So if you end up getting into some fancier applications and want to turn to more advanced tutorials, you may end up stymied. But overall, it’s a powerful package at a very reasonable price if you’re not planning on selling your work.
