This is my fifth year using Quicken TurboTax and it will be my third year using the state tax version. I’m sold on it. I can’t imagine going back to pen and paper to do taxes. The program takes you step-by-step through the tax process by asking you questions about the various sections of the forms. It also prompts you to make you remember about things that may have slipped you mind, like other deductions.

This review is based on release candidate 2 (RC2). Can I say anything but Kudos? The new interface is intuitive to the max. It’s a big step above former versions of Windows and even a cut above Macs. Stability is, well, I can’t get it to crash. Compatibility is phenomenal. DOS, Win 3.1 and Win9x programs run without a problem (remember, this is based on the NT file system and kernel, not the DOS-based file system and kernel).

There is a new format this year and I’m not quite sure I like it. It could be that I’m use to the old format. However, the program still takes you step-by-step through the tax process by asking you questions about the various sections of the forms.

I thought the PC had been sabotaged. Had to take it to a shop downtown to get cleaned up after this software was loaded.
