Watch out, don’t let the name deceive you. Although Quickbooks is a wonderful package on the PC, this Mac version is awful especially considering the price. If it were selling for 75% less, I would still slam it but at the price offered here and everywhere, it’s an embarrassment.
The worst part for me was the difficulty in money account transfers. What’s the deal here. I had software from the 1990s that could do this efficiently.

I’ve used the Peachtree package years back when operating a small business so I’m familiar with the legacy background of Sage. In many ways it operates the same ways but they’ve tweaked some functions to leverage the power of new hardware. Some may say they’ve added so many features over the years that it’s become a hodgepodge of glued together functions. Perhaps so, but in essence it works and does what it needs to do.

I’ve been using IRfanview for a long time to do my basic photo editing. However, once I stepped up to a DSLR camera, I wanted something much more powerful to do the job. A long while back I had use photoshop and was quite proficient. But I remember a very steep learning curve and a software package that was expensive. This Paintshop program really cleans up photos that I take to a higher level and it’s really easy to learn how to do all the functions.

Installed this on my home server system (Dell Dimensions AMD X2-6000 with XP Media Center with 2GB RAM / 1TB HD). I followed all the directions carefully by having previous antiviral software removed and rebooted. Then proceeded with the install of this product. The install went smoothly and almost finished. Then I assume the program started and my system rebooted (I’ve disabled blue screens for reboots). I thought okay, should be fine on the reboot.

I’ll start off by stating the installation of Bitdefender: the process went semi-smoothly for installation on my high-performance home server that is on 24 hours and runs largely headless (without a monitor). The system is an AMD X2-6000 dual-core with 2GB of RAM running under XP Media Center. The major problem during installation was that the program’s firewall was rammed down my throat with no toggle to deactivate it during the install period.

Been a user of streets since it first came out a long time ago. I love the program so looked forward to this update. I never had the GPS unit previously, so I enjoyed the GPS it really caught a signal quickly and accurately tracked. It’s a pity that streets and trips has lost much of its lustre over the years with standalone GPSs now so affordable and online mapping sources having taken over.

In this day and age, it’s easier and better just to mirror your ENTIRE drive to another spare drive. There’s no need to have tape-backup style incrementals and such nonsense, which are resource intensive and prone to problems. Many backup programs already support automatic scheduled mirroring but not true image. You have to manually click away to do it. Not good, and for commercial software this is really bad actually.

I’ve used Cyberlink products for years - including the Powerdirector series. The early series were prone to major errors on larger files. Some of that may have had to do with operating on old obsolete systems with limited memory and slow hard drive speeds. Fast forward to today where even the cheapest i3 system has more than enough power and RAM is cheap, plentiful, and you think nothing of it. With that, the program seems to have had much of its bugs taken out.

Overall this is a similar package to the Paintshop Pro Ultimate but with less included items. Less costly and so more inviting for those who are on a tight budget.
