What a great program! PhotoPlus X4 is perfect for people that want to manipulate their photography, but don’t have big bucks for the other professional programs. PhotoPlus allows you to edit with automatic layers so you don’t have to worry about ruining your original, as well as fix red eye and picture blemishes.

One of my favorite features in this program is the fact that you can change the saturation of separate colors quite easily. I’ve never used a program that could separate colors out like that before and think it’s quite cool! Also it seems like the effects are really well done. The black and white conversion of color pictures looks really nice.

There’s a vast number of tools and most of them are self explanatory when editing basic photography. The animation portion of this is a bit of a mystery to me still, as I’m not sure how to use it yet. That being said, I also don’t need to use that portion for much other than playing around. The photography tools are pretty easy to understand if you’ve ever used other editing programs. If you are new to the whole world of digital photo editing, it may take you a bit to catch on, but if you play with the features, you’ll eventually get it.

Overall, this program is definitely something amateur photographers (aka photographers on a budget) should consider getting. It is one of the best budget programs I’ve seen.
