Review by Wilder K. Raven
I will just cut to the chase: Like most Cyberlink products, this software does the job well, and it’s fairly complete, with lots of cool features to make either a great home video, or a more advanced editing project come to life.
I was pleased with the special effects offered with PowerDirector 11, and without having to go through the very thick manual, I still managed to do some simple editing and put together a few movies.
The bad news is that out of four projects, one came out choppy. I’m not sure what caused it, but it definitely suffered somehow. After an hour of processing (it was a long video!) I expected better results. Still, it could have been user error, or something on my system might have launched in the background. I would suggest that if you’re going to do anything with this application that you make certain that no other programs are hogging the CPU or memory. I’ll be more vigilant in the future, lest I waste more time.
Would I recommend this? Yes. It’s a complete package that will allow most users to get the results they’re looking for. I can’t speak for professional projects, but for my needs it does the job.
