This is my first time using Kaspersky. I have used a number of AV softwares in the past, including Norton, Avast, AVG, and Mcaffee. I truly have never had much of a preference for any of them, though I certainly do not count myself as a power user, nor someone who has a lot of unsafe browsing habits.
Among the features that Kaspersky boasts are the usual firewall, antivirus and website protection, anti pop-up software, parental controls, and more unique items like a protected virtual keyboard and Safe Money for protecting financial transactions and vulnerability scans which check third party programs for possible vulnerabilities.
So far Ive found that the suite seems to work effectively. A few things Ive noticed:nn archetypes config.toml content data layouts public resources static themes Kaspersky is not a resource hog. Unlike some programs like Norton, Kaspersky seems to be pretty frugal. Thats a good thing for those of us who use our computers for things like high end gaming.
* The secure virtual keyboard feature is sort of a clever idea. It helps to protect you from keyloggers by using a protected virtual keyboard to allow you to input sensitive information such as passwords and the like.
* The Network monitor feature seems to be a lot easier to use than other softwares. It breaks down what ports are open and what is using them in an easy to understand way. Some of the other softwares Ive used in the past haven’t been quite as elegantly presented.
* Unlike some users here, I did not find any compatibility issues with Safe Money or any of the other web features of Kaspersky. Safe money is a feature that seems to be unique to Kaspersky. The program opens a new protected browser instance when you go to websites at which you might spend or interact with money, such as banks, shopping websites, etc.
* One thing that is negative is that sometimes when performing a full scan, the computer locks up if you try to do other tasks at the same time. My set up has been rock stable before Kaspersky, so theres no doubt in my mind that KAspersky is the culprit. This to me is a BIG negative.
Overall, I have found Kaspersky to be a fairly good piece of software. Aside from the crashing complaint, which only seems to rarely happen during full scans, this software is at least as good as any of its competitors.
