I really like this software a lot. It is easy to use with a very small learning curve. It provides an enormous amount of filtering effects, many of which are digital versions of their popular glass filters, of which I’ve also got several in my collection. The software emulation of the glass filters is very close, and in some cases even better than their glass counterparts. The convenience is certainly better, as you can experiment with the various filters after the photo is taken, without the hassle of actually having to swap filters during a photo shoot.
The different filtering effects are extremely customizable, and of course can be stacked for creating multiple effects. Also included are filters that emulate various types of film (including grain, color reproduction traits, and contrast). You’ll find several artistic type effects too, which are incredibly well done and seem to work better when compared to similar offerings from other well-known brands.
The Tiffen DFx v3 software runs perfectly stable on Windows 8 Pro and is fast and easy to install. My one pet peeve is the lack of a printed manual or reference material. You simply get a large box with a single disc in it, nothing more.
Overall this is an excellent software photo editing tool that is well worth the price, and literally a steal compared to what you’d pay for all of those glass filters.
