The worst thing that can happen to a family is not only to lose someone but to find out that the person did not have a will. Not only will it take longer for the deceased’s asset to get the family, there is considerable costs in probate.

WillMaker Plus is good for those with a simple estate. It is a click and go will maker. Just fill out some basic information, then make your bequests and choose the executor. I finished it in less than 30 minutes.

It also has software for advance directives and power of attorney.

Now for the bad news, a lot of these wills have been contested in court and found to be lacking. That is why I say its for people with simple estates. I am assuming that if you do not have a complex will or are excluding family members, that no one will contest your will. This software is more of a way to avoid probate than to prevent contestation. If your will is more more complex, then still see a lawyer.

The one product issue I have is that this is not a software that I want to have available on my hard drive. It would be nice if there was a download option vs a disc option. Our computers are already full of useless programs that we do not use and I personally do not need one more!nnFor security purposes, during the process, the program asks you for your social security number. If you are going to keep a copy of your will on your computer, I would not include this because if you are hacked, then this important info is readily available to the hacker.

As I have stated, if your estate is simple, then this is a great way to protect your family from the costs of probate.
