First, you certainly feel much better if either one is between you and the world. Second, while they’re doing their job, you kind of forget that they’re even there. Third, if something bad actually happens, neither one is going to stop it, and they might keep you from knowing that it happened.
I’ve installed this, and it was straightforward and easy to do. It claims that it’s caught a few tracking cookies and what-not, but nothing apparently significant has shown up. So either I haven’t gotten anything like that, or the antivirus hasn’t caught it. I don’t really feel like going to find something to infect my computer with, just to see if the Norton catches it.
For the time being, it seems like it’s probably doing it’s job, and the brand has a good reputation. But, I can’t be sure that it’s been effective (I don’t know if I’ve run into a virus that it has stopped and not told me about). And I can’t be sure that it hasn’t completely missed something that has now infected my computer.
If you want some computer underwear, this seems as good a product as any, I guess.
