I would rank this program as Photoshop for beginners, which I definitely am! It was easy to get setup and use. I had struggled for quite some time using Photoshop to do some basic photo editing for my website and our lodge newsletter. PaintShop Pro made the work a lot easier. I was very impressed with all the templates and online help that they had when using the program. Most of what I needed for basic website use was available in a template form and took almost no effort at all to figure out and use.
I had used an older version of the program and was pleased to see that in X5 they had really streamlined a lot of the most commonly used functions. No more hunting through endless menus trying to find commands. They really did a good job of streamlining the user interface and making it easy to jump in and get started.
My only complaint is that the program can sometimes be a little slow, even on my i7 system, and if you are not careful it is easy to lose your work. However, these are minor compared to the feature set.
Overall, great for those who need photo editing and design software and don’t want to invest a fortune or undergo a steep learning curve to understand.
