I needed to switch to a more effective internet security program on the small laptop that I can throw in my purse - the one that is most likely to be out in the big bad dangerous world. I have gone through a couple of programs, including Hotspot Privacy and downloaded the free version of A__ - which, in my download, came with malware. I have been fighting a battle for control of this laptop ever since.

Our ten year old is making videos for different games that he places on you tube, mainly Minecraft, but some others. He was having difficulty editing video with the standard video editing software that I had put on his computer. Some of the things that he does includes taking things out of the video that are distractions. I know that he works on voice and controlling the noises in his videos.

There is nothing in this package that cannot be accomplished with TaxAct. The only reason I stay with TurboTax is sheer passivity. (Laziness.) Over the years, I have already added all of the information to the program, from employers to assets and income, so that I basically only need to enter the numerical information. The only work is in gathering the information. There was a time when ONLY Turbo Tax worked with Macs.

I’ve used McAfee products before to good end so I was glad to install this program. It was simple and straightforward which is always a good thing. The first thing it runs is a check for existing problems which is another good thing as I had not locked our network after changing routers recently and I have been running my wireless network open again. It took a few minutes to download and set-up.

I originally became interested in Italian when I visited there a couple years ago. At the time, I just wanted to learn enough to get by in the event that I was in a situation where there wasn’t an English speaker. So, I purchased the drive time italian audio CD’s and tried to learn from them. I was very unimpressed with them and felt like ten hours of CDs got me little more than the ability to say hello and goodbye.

This is actually pretty good for the price, but is definitely not the best photo and video editing on the market. Of course it isn’t trying to be the best either. The UI is easy to use and it provides the basic tools you’d want. I can recommend it for novice users. That said, if you have Windows 7, just use Windows Movie Maker from Windows Live Essentials. You also can use Picasa for a pretty good photo editor on Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

I’ll admit, I am mainly a Windows guy, but I do have a Mac and need to use office for work. So, using office on the Mac seemed to be a bit of a necessity to have the easiest collaboration between my computers and with colleagues. I was a bit hesitant to put any Microsoft software on my Mac, but I went ahead with it and I am glad that I did.

I put this product on my brother’s 5 year old Windows XP laptop after his system appeared to catch a virus using AVG free and so far this product has been running great without any complaints from my brother. After a couple of months, he decided to go ahead and proactively replace AVG free on his netbook. Since this includes a 3 user license he was able to do so without buying a new license.

Having just done some projects with Corel Video Studio Pro X6 and my GoPro cam, I was very happy to try out the latest PowerDirector (I previously had Power Director 9). In a pure head to head feel between Video Studio Pro X6, here are my impressions:n - PowerDirector has faster renderingn - Power Director has more featuresn - Power Director multiple track editing seems more powerfuln - Power director is little more difficult to usennI was able to create a very nice video of my daughter’s dance recital with multiple overlays, transitions, and audio tracks very quickly.

We had previously been using Family Tree Maker Essentials. We just upgraded to Platinum and imported all of our files. We also imported databases from two different sides of our family (two uncles that had been working on the branches of their respective families). This process was fairly easy and now we have a fairly complete history of two branches. The Platinum version is best if you’d like to do a lot of research about your extended family that you don’t have database information for.
