A year or so ago, I switched to Outlook, and while I can’t say that I really liked it, I did find that it was an improvement over my old email program in a couple of important ways. It offered integrated address book, and calendar functions, and it didn’t crash every fifteen minutes. I got used to its drawbacks because it offered me greater functionality.
Along comes Outlook 2007 with the contact manager, and suddenly there’s a whole new level of functionality to make me even happier.

I’ve spent years writing in Word. I’ve tried other programs for writers but until Scrivener came along, there was nothing that really worked the way I needed it to. I needed to make notes, I needed to keep reference photos, I needed to have separate folders for the story itself, and all the bits and pieces of information I’d collected about it. I needed a place to keep templates for character development and other aspects of the story.

It’s really kind of hard for me to evaluate PSP X8 fairly because I find I’m always comparing it to Painter 2016. I use the latter a lot, the former… it simply doesn’t do as much as either Painter, or Photoshop Effects. And that’s fine, considering the vast difference in price points between it and the others. It’s at the low end of the image manipulation range, and for that reason alone it deserves kudos, so let’s talk about it from that point of view.

I used to use Quickbooks for several years in my small business, then switched to Peachtree when Quickbooks began to start throwing in all kinds of unnecessary software and bloating out their product, and then switched back to Quickbooks with the 2011 release, which I found much more manageable and efficient. I upgraded to 2012 last month, and have been using it daily to evaluate it against the previous year’s release.

Even though I no longer work in an industry where I actively use accounting software everyday, I have enough experience from my past and with previous software versions to be able to tell how Sage 50 Pro 2015 compares to everything that has come before it. I haven’t been too impressed with previous versions of Sage software, including Sage 50 Complete and Premium, so I was hoping they would make some updates to the 2015 version.
