First, there is new version coming out in February 2010 that is suppose to be a huge update so if you can wait, it might save you some money so you don’t have to purchase it twice.
For me, I have used this software 2 years and have had no problem with it. It installed easily and never crashes or causes a problem with my computer. It is a tad slow on start up, but that seems to be common with non native apple programs, at least in my experience.

Shortly after installing this program both of my PC’s ran slower and did not allow me to go to websites that I wanted to use (using the default settings). I turned the firewall off completely and that helped access the websites, however, the computers were both painfully slow. My computers both run XP and one is about 1.5 years old and the other is 4 years old. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

This review is being written 3/29/2014 for the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 (1PC/1User) [Download], advertised and sold by Amazon on their website.
First of all, one disappointment is that the current licensing model from Microsoft only allows this product to be installed on one PC. Previously, the home and student product allowed installation on three PC’s at a similar price point.
The products themselves work well. For 100% compatibility with Microsoft format files, purchasing MS Office products is still the only way to go.

This review is being written 12/3/2012 for Microsoft Office Home & Student 2010 - 3PC/1User (Disc Version), sold and provided by Amazon on their web site.
If you have a need for MS Office on multiple (up to three) computers in a household, this can be a good deal depending on the price. The price varies with this product, so it is worth checking from time to time.
Even though the product is shipped on the included optical media, it works best to have a good high speed broadband connection to download the large amount of updates that are recommended by Microsoft.

The Disc version costs $120 currently, and product key version $106.
The Disc version can be installed on three PC’s instead of just one for the product key version.
The Disc version provides for easier emergency recovery/reinstall (no downloads) compared to the product key version.

This review is being written 4/13/2014 for the McAfee Total Protection 3PC 2014, advertised and sold by Amazon on their website.
I’m using this product on 6 PC’s, and have used the corresponding products on those PC’s for multiple years without issues. The users of these PC’s include teenagers all the way up to senior citizens. So far, none of the computers have become infected with a virus.
I’ve found installation via the download method to be easy with no issues.

I do not recommend Norton Security because :n(1) Beware you are buying a subscription, not the software. Once the subscription expires, all the software stop running.n(2) Norton Identity Safe which stores your usernames and passwords for websites, also stop running once the subscription expires. Norton claims it is a free password manager on its website norton (com) BUT IT IS NOT.n(3) I am using Windows 8. The software is full of bugs.

I do not recommend the Norton Internet Security 2014 because :n(1)The software should still protect the computer using anti-virus definitions downloaded before the expiration date.nBut that is NOT the case.n(2)After the expiration date, the software ceases to work. You must pay for the software to work EVERY YEAR.

This program is good for anyone who needs Microsoft Word but can’t afford to get it. It gives you all the things Microsoft Word offers.

I don’t care too much for McAfee. It doesn’t seem to find anything, although I must say it has stopped me from going on certain sights. But I think I will go with AVG next time. I love how AVG is good even the free version. That’s why I gave this 3 stars because, AVG I think is one of the best out there. I have tried Norton which I really don’t like, but AVG yes, that’s the way to go.
