I have been using SM for nearly 5 years now. I first purchased it when my primary computer began acting sluggish – it was in need of maintenance but I had no idea what. For me, SM was a god-send … it breathed new life into an aging machine and allowed me to keep it up and running for 4 more years. I love the product so much that I’ve used the trial version on my elder parents’ machines.

At a hundred bux retail, I expect a lot from a piece of software. This player does a lot … BUT, do you really need it? Ultimately, that’s up to the individual buyer, but for me the answer was no.
PowerDVD does a lot.
- Playback of DVDs and Blu-ray movies (including 3D!) with resolution enhancementn- An interface to use with a remoten- Media playback via other pcsn- A cataloging function for your photos, music files, and videosnnSounds great.

OK, so I admit that I know nothing about photoshop but I wondered if this would be a good subsitute. Honestly, I’m not sure that it is. However, for about thirty bucks, it’s perfect for a novice like me. I take a lot of digital photos and most are pretty lousy. I am still learning all the features and functions, but I do have to say that I’ve made some pics a bit better.

Despite what folks say about Vista, and it isn’t pleasant to read at times, I have this software on one computer and I like this 32-bit version of Vista. Plus, if you’re lucky enough to find a 32-bit copy of Vista, it is a superb successor to the 32-bit Windows XP to hold you over for another 4 years on the same ole Windows XP machine. Vista drivers are XP drivers only updated and trouble free.

I am not a fan of total control by the heavy weight software protection systems offered by Norton (360, Internet Security, and such). I don’t like the fact that these programs literally take over the entire Windows operating system and funnel EVERYTHING YOU DO thru the Norton servers for inspection. I also don’t like the fact that putting this heavy weight software on a Windows computer can, and does, slow the machine down dramatically.

I think I started with CorelDraw 2.0 back in 1870 or something. I also use Adobe Illustrator. For me I really like this CorelDraw graphics suite and always have. It does things, believe it or not, that Illustrator struggles with. And the photo editing software from CorelDraw Graphics Suite can do things that Photoshop struggles with. Still I use Illustrator, Photoshop, and CorelDraw Suite together all the time.
I find CorelDraw Graphics Suite easy to learn, use, and capable of producing high end graphics designs that compete easily with the best that Adobe offers in their products.

I had some problems downloading from Amazon. It may be that I just loaded Windows 8. I almost cancelled the order. my 1st download o.k. but when I got around to update it, it just would not update, so I must have downloaded about 5 times. It is updated now. Hope it is fixed.
