I wasn’t as impressed with this software as I was hoping to be. The files could only be saved as files that only these programs could read…couldn’t be saved as jpegs or anything else that would make it easier to upload scrapbook pages anywhere else. I also like software where I can interchange graphics from one program to another, such as pulling art from the scrapbook program and putting into a photo editing software to make my own creations, and this program makes it very difficult to do that.

The software has all the major necessities for a small sized company to do their bookkeeping properly. These include the customers and sales section which allows you to add either customers or jobs as sources of revenue depending on how your company operates. Quotes and proposals, sales orders, invoices, and time and expense tickets can all be created to track a companys sales data. There is also a free Mobil app available to sage users which allows all of the companys sales data and customers to be accessed at any time.

Updated: Nov 22:nnTurned out that the Intuit servers thought I had an older version of the product, and so refused to let me complete the online registration process. After some excellent diligent followup by Intuit support (thanks, Staci and Justin) the software is now fully functional. I have updated the rating to reflect this. What bothered me most was the lack of useful information provided by the software when it encountered this error.

I am a big fan of Pinnacle Studio and have used its various iterations over the years. Fortunately, version 18 offers much of the same stability and ease of use as previous versions. In terms of ease of use, this software falls somewhere between Corel Video Studio (less complex) and Sony’s Movie Studio (more complexity.) Ease of use is important to me as I don’t edit videos all that often, and can’t be bothered to remember the nuances of each software product.

I am a huge fan of Norton products - and have used it exclusively for all my personal devices since around 2003. The fact that this software is provided free by my cable provider is simply icing on the cake. The latest iteration of this suite is just as great. I am running it on a 7-year old Core Duo 2 with 2GB RAM (Win 7 x64), and it still runs like a champ without hogging my system’s resources.

I have been a user of QuickBooks since QB 2007. I actually purchased QB 2009, with the intent of upgrading last year, but was scared away by a number of user complaints (both in reviews and in user forums). As a result, my first real upgrade was to QB 2010. To be clear, I am not a QB power user - I don’t use QB Payroll, I don’t accept credit cards, I don’t carry a product inventory, and I prefer to balance my books manually without relying on the automatic transaction download features of QB.

The VideoStudio product tends to stay along a very narrow path - eschewing complex features for ease of use - and this version does that yet again. As an example, its main feature this iteration is something you may not even notice - its 64-bit architecture!nnWhat you get is a product that is amazingly intuitive and targeted squarely at the occasional editor rather than a videographer. Users of previous versions of this software will be able to jump right in - it has the exact same idioms and workflow - making it easy to get working with minimal fuss.

I like having the information I need to file without having to leaf thru the federal and state instructions, the review with recommendations and the free filing.
