Sorry if the title is a little strong but I have been using word processing and spreadsheet software since the 70s and this is a great leap backwards.
I do not know what caused MS to abandon the simple pull down menus and control and alt functions that let word approach 60% of the efficiency of word perfect.
The new programs are cumbersome, mouse intensive and trash for the serious user .

I had heard stories that the Mac version would be difficult but that’s not the case. Worked well even for a Quick Books Level 1 operator.
Although it comes with some risk I am looking at migrating my personal accounting from the company computer to my Mac.

Perfect for the family or small business for those with multiple computers.
Very affordable , especially with a student Id .

I am not a quickbooks wizzard but have used the product on several windows platforms before installing it on my new mac. Based on my experience it lost something in the transition. We are seriously looking at putting the windows version on the macbook pro in a windows partition.
It is hard to list all the items but some tasks that are very common seem to take more steps and are more complex.

Mac OS X has some satisfactory burning tools built into the operating system, so why spend $75 on Toast 7? Well, Toast 7 does everything you wish your Mac could.
First, DVD burning. Toast allows you to import all sorts of video files, and burn them onto a video DVD, for viewing in your set-top DVD player. This is a great feature, if you have some Divx video files, on your hard drive.

I love my Macs. In truth, I love nearly everything created by Apple including their software. I own their iWork office suite. However, do not be surprised when I highly praise Microsoft’s Office 2008 for Mac. I find it to be a fantastic product, for most Mac users, I would say it’s difficult to live without it.
When Office 2008 first came out, it was somewhat slow compared to the outgoing Office 2004 even on new Intel based Macs.

As a CPA I have been using H&R Blocks Deluxe Tax software for at least 15 years. While theyve actually cut back some of the features I found VERY helpful, I find it more user-friendly that Turbo Tax the only other personal tax software out there. Sand its always cheaper and Amazon always has the best price the list week of the year or often on January 2nd.
The feature I miss most is the Compare to Prior Year report (which was deleted about four years ago when HRB changed name of their tax software from Tax Cut to HRB at Home.

I have used H&R Block Tax Cut Deluxe for at least 15 years and have been content with it. I would give it five stars if not for ONE major issue - which may affect many people in the mid-Atlantic States. It will affect you if you live in one state and work in another. That is because H&R Block Deluxe gives you ONE state return. You can PURCHASE additional states at the ridiculous price of $39.

I’ve been using for years and still staying with it BUT I want to make any users who work in one state and live in a different one that you will need to buy a second state module from H&R Block. This will cost you an additional $34.95 PLUS TAX. There is NO DISCOUNT. Turbo tax charges the same. They have been increasing the price for the second state module each year and it now costs the same (or more - since it is not discounted) than the Federal + State software.
