Corel PaintShop Pro X6 Ultimate bridges the gap between photoshop elements and full-blown photoshop at a price competitive with the former. PSP X6 Ultimate is a full-featured photo editing program that is powerful, and supports 64-bit systems, while still having a 32-bit only .exe available if you need to use plug-ins that are only 32-bit compatible. The editing program runs much more stable than the X3 version it replaced for me, making for a stable editing experience with little fear of a crash-to-desktop in the middle of an editing session.

Installation was easy and glitch free, and did not take long at all. I enjoy the smooth installation processes like this that don’t make you jump through a bunch of hoops just to get started.
The program runs okay, but seems a tad on the sluggish side, even on an i7 processor with hyper-threading and 6 gig of ram.
This seems to be Cyberlink’s answer to Adobe Lightroom, which I use extensively for all my NEF (RAW) photo processing, cataloging, and publishing.

GLO Premium is a fantastic piece of software for everyone from the casual bible studyist to dedicated students, and can also be a valuable resource for teachers and preachers. The program is stable, well thought out, easy to navigate and is packed full of features, making it an incredible value. GLO Premium installed quickly and easily on my homebrew Vista x64 Intel Core i7 system, full install taking less than 15 minutes from start to finish, using all 3 discs provided.

This is a very nice media player. It plays back various media sources with complete stability. The user interface is very simple and easy to operate, the controls are intuitive, and it pretty much is impossible to screw anything up.
Playback video quality seems to be excellent. At 1080p resolution I haven’t noticed any quality difference from that of other media suites. The pictures are clear, crisp, and the colors are what you’d expect them to be.

Sony usually has excellent software to bring to the table, and they’re keeping that trend going with the Sony Movie Studio 13 Suite. Installed on a Microsoft Windows 8 Professional machine with an Intel Core i7 processor, this editing suite is super stable and leverages the multi-core and hyper-threading features very well making this suite very efficient and fast.
The various editing tasks are assigned to their own editing programs within the suite, making each editing task such as audio, video, and so-forth more focused with better working features that aren’t just all clumped together and inefficient.

Kaspersky is a well recognized name in computer security, they are one of the top computer / internet security companies in the world. Their product for Android is an easy to install, and easy to configure security product that helps keep your Android device protected from any threats. While Android is fairly safe without any security product, that is you actually have to install the rogue virus or spyware yourself, it does a good job at keeping the careless user better protected.

I really like this software a lot. It is easy to use with a very small learning curve. It provides an enormous amount of filtering effects, many of which are digital versions of their popular glass filters, of which I’ve also got several in my collection. The software emulation of the glass filters is very close, and in some cases even better than their glass counterparts. The convenience is certainly better, as you can experiment with the various filters after the photo is taken, without the hassle of actually having to swap filters during a photo shoot.

This is a very bare bones typing tutor program. It teaches you in small stages how to type without any silly games or other things, making this better suited for adult learning than for kids. To test this program out, I installed on my trusty Windows 8.1 desktop system, ready to give my mechanical keyboard some typing action.
The program runs smoothly most of the time, though it does seem to suffer from an occasional crash to desktop.

I’m an illustrator who works primarily in vector format and CorelDRAW is one of my favorite programs for it.nSo first the cons-nSupport, documentation and user guides for Corel products can be iffy. If you’re just starting out, and want to learn to use the program, by all means, read the user guide, help files and do the new user tour- but you’ll learn a lot more about what the programs can do by looking for online tutorials and playing with the program.

I have a lot of friends who use Photoshop, and have found that while I can usually convert a technique from Photoshop to Painter- it doesn’t work the other way around. When they ask me how I did a specific techniques, the tools are just not available in Photoshop to do the same thing. What takes a few steps and layers in Painter, takes a lot more work and steps in Photoshop.
