We used Turbo Tax up until about 4 years ago when I had a problem trying to report an income item that just didn’t want to plug into the right spot correctly. We switched to H&R Block that year and never looked back. Our taxes aren’t terribly complicated but tax laws seem to change every year for one thing or another. H&R Block does all the under the hood calculating which keeps things simple for me, the user, and that’s what I like.

The thing I like the most about the AVG Anti-Virus and Spyware software is that it runs in the background without bothering me and most of the time I don’t even know it’s there. I’ve used an earlier version of this software for just over a year, so when I saw this package being offered I ordered it for my husband’s new PC which is running Windows 7. I like not having all the advertising pop-ups that I’ve had to deal with on other anti-virus programs and I also like that it doesn’t seem to affect the speed of my computer when booting like some other titles have done in the past.

If you want a good introduction to the Spanish language, I think this program would be helpful to you. It would also be a good companion product if you were taking a Spanish class or using a more comprehensive Spanish course product. Since I don’t speak Spanish, I think I’m a good test subject. Here’s what I liked and didn’t like about this course:nnI received the product as a Vine Voices item to review, but if I were to buy it, the price is reasonable for the amount of material you receive.

Quicken WillMaker Plus 2012 was easy to use right from the start. It installed without a problem on my Windows 7 computer and took us through the steps of putting together a simple will. If you’ve ever used tax software, you’ll be reminded of it as you go through the steps in this program. It takes a job that can seem overwhelming at first and walks you through the steps in an easy to understand manner.

After spending countless hours trying to get Turbo Tax, which I’d used for about 10 years, to fill in and calculate my taxes correctly, I gave up and bought H&R Block At Home Deluxe + State 2011 instead. The download took less than a minute and installed quickly with no problems at all. H&R has a feature that can get your info from last year’s Turbo Tax but since I’d had so much trouble with Turbo and was concerned that it might get this year’s instead, I started from scratch with adding our information.

The thing I like best about Corel photo software products is that they make editing quick and easy for the casual hobbyist or intricate for the more advanced photographer. Corel AfterShot Pro is no exception. It installed quickly with just a few clicks on my Windows 7 machine and I was busy editing photos in a few minutes. I love the graphic interface of this software. Even without reading any instructions I was able to adjust lighting, hue, color, contrast and a bunch of special effects on I photo I opened.

I’ve been happy with the software every year since then. The first year I did the online download through Amazon and it went quickly. Installation was straightforward as it is with the actual disc.

I’ve been using Turbo Tax to file my federal and state income taxes for the past 5 years. It’s definitely better than doing them by hand, but this year the program seemed a lot more cumbersome and lengthy than last year. And we had less things to deduct or pay this year. Another thing it seemed to do was to print out duplicates and triplicates of not only the return but also bunches of worksheets that I’ll probably never look at again or need.

Just what I needed.

Since there are still too many changes on TurboTax this year I will wait until I file to make a final determination on how these changes are going to affect my taxes
