Why would someone pay retail when they were giving WIN 10 upgrades away free? Thats a tough question. For me it boiled down to the freedom of completely wiping everything clean and starting fresh (usually with a new hard drive and other components) about once every two years. I know there are other ways to do that but there are always remnants of those little nasties that seem to never go away even with a clean install.

I’m sorry, CyberLink, but are you still selling a product like PowerDVD. And charging money for it?nn10-15 years ago a product like this was absolutely necessary. Today’s both Macs and PC’s come with media playback software and photo management tools that do exactly the same thing as almost everything PowerDVD does. The only result I could see is it includes a few minor features for enhancing playback quality. Again, years ago that may have been cool, but today the vast majority of people who will watch movies will do so on their high-resolution flat-screen TV, or their tablet PC (or even smartphone).

As a professional photographer I have a reputation for having a creative eye. Likewise as a graphic artist I can communicate compelling thoughts and concepts through visual media relatively effortlessly. But I know my limits - I am not a sketch artist nor a painter. Put a brush in my hand and never in a million years will I come up with the Mona Lisa. My sketching skills tend toward mechanical drawing … linking a series of boxes and circles and lines which I do daily when I am trying to conceptualize a project.

I like the nice glass look and some of the new features, but overall it is not a product I would use. I’ve used various versions of Office for Windows, OpenOffice.org, and Office 2004⁄2008 for Mac, as well as iWork 06 and iWork 08. I prefer iWork 08 the best, and while Office 2008 is pretty nice, there are some issues I have with it which keep it from being my product of choice.

I really like using this program. I used to work on Windows with Office XP, Office 2003, Office 2007, and […], but this program, however different, was intuitive enough for me to get right to work. (I’ve also used Office 2008 for Mac more recently, but I don’t like it as much.)nnEverything looks elegant, effects (like slide transitions in Keynote) are totally cool (way better than in Office), it’s really easy to use, it has really good performance, it’s actually fun to use, and I’m always finding new cool things to do with it.

Using this program makes my iMac (core 2 duo, with default 1 gig memory) run REALLY slowly, usually making the program almost unusable. [Contrast this to iWork (a small fraction of the price, by the way) which opens much more quickly and runs super smoothly.] Office has also crashed on me a few times (I’m running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11. Maybe its more stable on Leopard?).
I also don’t understand why people get this because they need Office compatibility.

It gets tiresome to have to keep updating Quicken every few years because they prevent you from downloading stock prices. The graphics are a little better but the functionality has gone down compared to Q2008. They no longer give you performance on your investments as a quick tab but have to no go through the menus to access this information. The performance reports quicken 2011 gives has less info than 2008.

I have been using Quicken for almost 20 years. Since I upgraded and transfered my old files to the new version I cannot get my statements to reconcile. They are always off a few dollars up or down. Over all the software is very slow and updating investment accounts is slow an inaccurate. Let us keep are old working versions and charge us a fee to download financial information.
They have tried to include more and more in the software and it just doesn’t work anymore!
