I already had the older version of the Family Tree Maker and generally liked it other than a few minor things; so when I was offered this I was very happy; I had been slacking in my ancestry work so it really kicked me in the butt to try this out.
One of the best things about the software is the 6 months free to Ancestry. Anyone who has worked with Ancestry knows that it’s great but also expensive… so you really need to focus on researching hard while your membership is active.

I love the program and how easy it makes family genealogy tracking. It has lots of options and additions; I love the fact that it automatically has a membership to ancestry… enough so that it got me in a mad rush to finish my genealogy before the trial was up. That being said, it has a few flaws.
1- it’s pretty much the same as ancestry.com. I do like having the program ON my computer and not necessarily having to log into Ancestry.

I have long been a fan of the free version of PowerDVD. My husband has hearing problems because he was born an extreme preemie. So when we watch movies we HAVE to have subtitles to help out. PowerDVD is great in this regard; they have many different options in their menu for setting up subtitles, font, colors, you name it.
The biggest thing I like about this version is how the movies look.

Having used word for many years, I was excited to install a newer version. I REALLY liked the features of the program, but my main issue is that it’s not exactly user friendly. Just simply installing it was not straightforward, which was a real pain, and then opening the programs was a pain too. I am NOT computer illiterate, but somehow their menus were not very clear cut. Very odd for new software, it’s not the 90’s after all!

This is a fine replacement for a Broadcom wifi adapter in a laptop. It’s connects faster, and the speed is very quick.

I was using Norton Ghost to do backups and while that seemed to work okay, I really wasn’t comfortable using a Norton/Symnatec product because I’ve found them all to be bloatware. So I gave Acronis a try. I set it up using Windows XP and had no trouble installing the program, nor adjusting the settings to make my initial backup as well as scheduling regular incremental backups thereafter. I used the feature of the software that creates a secured partition on the backup drive that can’t be accessed by the operating system.
