I have been using PowerDVD 12 for the better part of a year and I have been satisfied with it. Version 13 brings improvements and enhancements to the table and is a very capable full-featured media player, but it is expensive.
I will start with this - PowerDVD is more than a DVD and BluRay player. It also plays other types of media files such as .mpg and .avi files as well as audio files too.

MapPoint 2009 is a great tool for any traveling businessman. It allowed me to plan routes, search local places, insert preset stopping times and all of this was discovered in the first five minutes.
As I continued to use the application I learned I could attach a Pharos Gps (gps-360) which allowed me to gather driving data and use my notebook as a turn-by-turn driving assistant.
While the application was written for Windows Vista/XP I was able to install and run it on Windows 7 (RC).

After using VMware Fusion for a few months it has become a regular tool in my web development tasks. A few of the reasons I enjoy working with Fusion is:nn1. Unity (ability to use windowed apps within OS X)n2. Ability to test in IE, Safari (for Windows), Firefox (for Windows) and Chrome (for Windows)n3. Can freeze VM to skip the long loading process of Windows.
Though with everything in computers there are some trade-offs.

I recently switched over to Office 2007 on my MacPro (running Windows) and eventhough it is running in a virtual machine it is very responsive. The new styles offered make it easy to create a professional looking document and the new UI makes it easy to find what you are looking for. Holding the ALT key reveals keyboard shortcuts and other usability settings.
Overall I think I got my moneys worth and then some, looking forward to purchasing some more licenses for the other computers in my office.

As the title of this review states, a lot has changed in Windows since the XP/Vista days. It would seem Microsoft is only building the OS for tablets and touch devices however this design logic falls badly on a classic desktop or laptop. If you have a Windows 8 phone you’ll probably be at home.. but if you fear or dislike change i’d wait this one out. To date I haven’t seen any applications forcing Windows 8 for support (it’d be crazy if they did).
