Parallels made it extremely easy to convert a Virtual PC 7 file to a Windows installation on my Intel iMac. Since the Windows code runs natively on the Intel processor, the execution is fast. The ease of moving from Mac to Windows is amazing and seamless. Through the use of snapshots it is easy to return to a previous working configuration when Windows decides to start acting up.

The MobileMe service is useful for several services and features in conjunction with OS X. Buying it from Amazon is a great way to get buy the yearly service and save a few dollars.

I have been using Toast for years because it is makes the process of creating a disc much easier than the built-in features of OS X. I would strongly recommend Toast to even the most casual user.

Finally a Intel-native version of MS Office for the Mac. Much quicker to launch than the previous version.

This product will serve you well if you are not a video pro, and just want to put together some effects on video you shot with your phone, camera, etc. It doesn’t have all the pro bells and whistles, for that you need to step up to their more expensive versions. But that also means it’s not too difficult to learn or to use this software.
It’s ease of use is pretty much on par with the free Movie Maker from Microsoft, and has some more features, doodads and geegaws.

This is a nice collection of tools to use with photo editing. The drawback is that it is more than one program, and there is a learning curve to using each one. Some are easier than others to use. For the novice and non techy people, it is a little intimidating to first try and figure out what program does what, then install it, and learn to use it. If you install them all, then you might end up with more programs than you need to do your tasks, taking up space on your hard disk.

This is my first family tree type software, so I don’t have anything to compare it to like many other reviewers. It does take awhile to install, but not as unbearable as some other programs I won’t mention.
It’s not hard to get up and running with this, the giving of the credit card info for the free trial period is annoying, but unfortunately common these days. I have a reminder program so I can set a reminder to cancel before it expires.

This version does have a good number of new features, improvements, etc. But it suffers from the ‘change just for changes sake’ syndrome that a lot of software also falls victim to. As others have noted, Corel does seem to be listening to it’s users and making changes and fixing things according to feedback. But some things like the GUI overhaul is just to make it look different and try to make you think you need to upgrade.
