I’ve been a TurboTax user for so long, I can’t remember when I started using it. Like most, I had issues with last year’s software as I file 1099-MISC, and I needed the Schedule C forms that were taken out of the version I used. I did explore briefly H&R Block’s solution (as they were offering it for free), but in the end I stuck with TurboTax.
This tax year, I’m picking this up to run a concurrent check, as we’re going to have to go with an accountant or CPA to do our taxes, as we’ve had a LOT of life changes.

Installed this, and I don’t need the most advanced software, I just wanted something to keep track of family information. In that regard it works fine. Had some issues with data sync with the website. Can’t tell if that’s the software, my connection, or the website. But it wasn’t a clean experience because of that.
If you’re upgrading from an older version (like I was), it did pick up my old information, which was helpful - I didn’t really want to start all over again.

First off, there appear to be several reviews talking about how this program is slow, and is a pain if you were using previous versions. I can’t speak to the latter there, this was my first ever copy or iteration of this software. It worked fine for me! Granted, I don’t have hundreds of people in here, and oodles of data and multimedia to content with. Perhaps it bloats out if you have an enormous tree, but it was’t the case for me.

This is a pretty good piece of software if you’re a small company, looking to save some money on legal documents. Lawyers can cost an arm and a leg (and part of the other arm too) where I live, so this kind of software is a good thing to have. I wouldn’t use this if I were a huge corporation with 1,000 employees, though.
But if you’re small, and need some help with things like this, then it’s probably right up your alley.

I have been using WordPerfect since DOS version 5.1 and spend the majority of my work day using it. If I have to edit documents in Word I routinely find it easier to copy Word => Notepad =>, redo all the formatting, make the changes, then open the WP document in Word and change the font from Shruti back to Times New Roman. (For some weird reason Word doesn’t recognize that the document was saved with Times New Roman font.

Just a quick update since this is now not the latest version and potential buyers will be trying to decide whether to pay more for X6.
X5 and X6 are pretty much identical except that X6 comes with both a 32-bit AND 64-bit versions. Tests show the 64-bit version is MUCH faster IF you are running 64-bit Windows and have sufficient memory AND are handling large files or a large group of files (batch process).
