I have been a photoshop user for years and while this is NOT a full blown replacement, it does exactly what I need it to do. Corel Aftershot Pro3 is a tool that requires a little learning curve to master, but it isn’t difficult. You can load your pictures and then manually or automatically apply a number of filters. Want to fix a blemish? 2 clicks and I was able to erase some scratches in an old photo that I had scanned in.

Out of the box I was intrigued, I’ve been using Premiere Pro CC lately but I’m still a big fan of purchased software instead of paying the cloud. Ultimate X7 installed AND activated without any issues. It’s fast, it’s smooth, and it’s soo easy to use (try saying that about Premiere Pro straight off the cloud. I’m impressed. I am very satisfied overall with all the Corel programs I’ve been using, including the PaintShop Pro X6.

I’ve recently been tinkering in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Cyberlink PowerDirector 12 Ultimate and Pinnacle Studio 17 Plus along with having used Nero and Roxio video editing products in the past.
Obviously the absolute best program of the bunch is Adobe Premiere Pro - at a premium price. Within the reasonable and affordable price point for PURCHASED software (instead of a monthly license structure that Adobe CC has transitioned into) the PowerDirector 12 Ultimate is superior since I was not overly impressed with Pinnacle Studio 17 Plus.

I absolutely enjoyed using Sony Movie Studio 13 suite. It installed without any grief and was intuitively simple to use considering I’ve used several similar applications and am becoming increasingly skilled with many apps included within my Adobe CC subscription.
Sony Movie Studio 13 Suite is aimed for the audience who is more into social media (it’s very easy to share completed videos directly to FB!) If you don’t need some less used pro level tools of Premiere Pro (and After Effects), and want to OWN the software instead of leasing it at approximately $50 / month, then Sony Movie Studio is definitely worth a consideration.

I have been a big fan of Roxio Creator for well over a decade. Creator NXT is the 2013 updated edition for those of us who create videos for disc or online, rip music to MP3s, create professional looking photo slideshows or even printed keepsakes such as calendars or posters with the included PaintShop Pro X4.
PaintShop Pro has become my PRIMARY photo editing software, despite having access to several great photo editing programs, albeit I usually use PaintShop Pro X5 or X6 (2013).

Pinnacle, Corel and Adobe all feature excellent video editing software. Each has it’s pro’s and cons. Adobe is the go to for PROFESSIONALS (Premiere Pro + After Effects), especially if you also have a need for photo editing (Photoshop), publishing marketing materials (InDesign), vector graphics (Illustrator), webdesign (Dreamweaver and Muse) and much much much more, then the subscription based software known as Creative Cloud is the way to go.
For those of us who prefer to use software that we own without needing to pay a monthly licensing fee, both Corel and Pinnacle offer great software.
