This version of Quicken has several Fatal Flaws - avoid at all costs.
The budget randomly adds or subtracts monthly totals - the yearly totals are usually completely wrong. Therefore the budget is not only wrong, but DANGEROUS to USE.
The reports also randomly add or subtract monthly totals. Again, reports are incorrect and useless.
Assuming you even try to use the budget, the new software will lock you out from past months.

I’ve been using Quicken for decades and just upgraded from Quicken 2010 to 2012 (birthday gift). Now I cannot change my budget for past months?! Is this a bad joke? On top of that, several categories in the Budget screen don’t tally expenditures any more even though I through reports expenditures are in those categories. What a mess!nnThe produce is basically the same as 2010 except the budget is a useless mess.

Repeatedly failed to find viruses. Support is non-existent. At least it did not slow the computer to a crawl, but its worthless antivirus.

I’ve used Macs since 2005 and PCs since 1985. I have been a heavy spreadsheet user since ‘85 and have many spreadsheets from various versions of office. When I bought by MB Pro 3 months ago I was led to believe that iWork is compatible with Excel spreadsheets. The fact is it opens them, edits them, and saves them in such a messed up format they are essentially corrupted.
I have spent hours fixing Excel spreadsheets corrupted by this software.

I update Quicken every 3 or 4 years. After the buggy mess that was Quicken 2012 (where the software could not even do simple math correctly), I upgraded to Quicken 2016 thinking it would be better. Although only slightly buggy, it is almost unusable:nnYou cannot use Quicken without creating an online Quicken account now. So now you must store you private financial info on Quicken’s servers - EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHERE I WANT MY PRIVATE FINANCIAL INFO.

I’ve used Elements for several years. I recently had to replace my desktop and jumped to a 64-bit system in which Elements does not have a valid product. One reason I use Elements is for what I think is a superior photo organizer. The Elements organizer allows me to create a hierarchy. For example I have Vacations->2009->lake as three tiers. This style allows me to group things and drill down when I want to.

I’ve done my taxes with TurboTax for over 10 years. My taxes have been complicated by buying and selling investment houses, investing in limited partnerships, and much more. I’ve never had a problem with TurboTax failing to help me deal with all of these complex tax issues. Just walk through the questions, let the program check your work and tell you if there is any missing data, and send your taxes off.

How do you review an Internet Security package? Well I had to think about that and this is what I came up with.
1) What I want more than anything is to be protected from viruses, phishing attacks, and intruders of all kinds. Does it protect me while I’m doing some online purchasing or banking? Some of this is hard to test without deliberately accepting a virus or phishing attack which I wasn’t about to do.

I downloaded Windows 8 and upgraded from Windows 7 on my non-touch screen desktop computer. The first thing I liked is the desktop has very few changes and I can continue to use it just like was in Windows 7. That was quite comforting. I had created a disk image and recovery disk in case I wanted to go back to Windows 7. Within 10 minutes I knew I wouldn’t go back.

I’ve used Turbo Tax for over 10 years. My taxes are simple except for employee stock options, and stock and bond investments that have to be accounted for. Turbo Tax makes it easy.
Turbo Tax helps make sure I don’t miss something. After a full pass through the whole tax process it offers a review to ensure there isn’t something I left out.
I used to use a tax attorney but realized I was doing all the work by bringing all my paperwork to him, then he would interview me and pass the results onto a service that would enter the data (probably into something like Turbo Tax).
