Acronis, rightly, is known in the IT world I occupy as a solid backup and restore player in the business. On servers, I have always relied on Acronis to help me restore everything from the Operating System itself to the application specific data, such as Exchange Server mailbox databases. I am very pleased to report that Acronis is doing the same thing in the PC market. I did not use the whole-PC recovery, choosing instead to use the Non-stop backup primarily.

Create It! Fun Collection is a bundle of these programs: Paint It, Photoalbum 7, Serif Digital Scrapbook Artist 2, and Panorama Plus. Within these programs, you have the ability to fine-tune photographs, add fun effects, and place them in digital photo albums/cards/flyers or share them with your friends and family. Create It! The Fun Collection comes with a hefty instruction guide, for which I was quite happy to have. These programs fall into the category (for me at least) where they are so simple that they’re hard to grasp at first glance.

I didn’t use this as much as I thought I would, due to this being a Windows based program. I installed it on my laptop and did basic, simple editing and it’s a nice piece of equipment. It is very different from iMovie, which is what I use on my Mac. What I liked about this program, however, was how it ‘looked’ like more expensive, top of the line editing programs.

What to say about ‘Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 2011’… Starting with the basics, this program is designed to make your drawing experience with your electronic tablet easier! The installation took no time at all and I didn’t notice any changes in the running of my Mac at all! Now, for my purposes, I don’t actually own a tablet. I was hoping this came with something that would work similar, but it is, alas, only software.

For me, the LeapFrog Leap Pad is a great learning toy for children and the games are a huge part of it! This cute Sesame Street game is aimed at preschoolers, but works for all three of my kid testers who range from ages 4, 6, and 7. The other games we own are more literacy based so this Solve it with Elmo, Abby and Super Grover game for the Leap Pad is great because it focus on ‘STEM’, which stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts.
