WinZip has been around for ages. Throughout the years the program has gained several features which have made it more of a swiss army knife for power users. Although there are several freeware programs that provide similar functionality, none provide the all inclusive features that Win Zip does.

I have done a decent amount of printing at home using various software over the years. Everything from banners, cards, and even cd-covers and labels. Every type of project required me to use a specific program so I thought that Print Master would solve the confusion of having all these different programs on my computer. Unfortunately the Print Master software has too many of its own design flaws to be usable.

I have used several different anti-virus programs over the years including previous McAfee products. My first impression while installing the program was one of frustration as it simply would not install. I tried this on 2 separate computer running Windows XP and on both systems the installation failed after about 5 minutes. I tried to uninstall some programs and then re-install this but it simply would not work. I finally tried to install this on a Windows Vista micro laptop that I have and this time the installation was successful.

I have been using online backup services for years and have become accustomed to how easy to use most have become. The real benefit of online services is that they allow me to chose which folders and which devices I want to backup and then automatically take care of the rest. The Norton Online Backup seemed like a similar proposition but unfortunately it was not. It only allowed me to backup from my computer.

Wordperfect Office X5 is a great alternative to the Microsoft’s Office. Most of the features and ease of use found in Microsoft’s Office can be found in Wordperfect’s Office at a fraction of the cost of Microsoft’s version. The major downside is that OpenOffice provides a free alternative to Microsoft’s Office that almost makes this software hard to justify even at a significantly lower price than Microsoft. **** Positive Points Include: *n- Easy to install and usen- Comes with a tutorialn- Offers competitive performance to Microsoft’s Officen- Compatible with most major Microsoft formatsn- Comes with 3 use license so it can be loaded on 3 of your computersnn* Negative Points Include: *n- Hard to justify when OpenOffice provides the same features for freenn Overall: ***nThis may be a good choice for a small business or anyone that needs a tutorial or support.

The Media Expressions Platinum 3 is an easy to use software that makes video and photo editing easy. I used this on a Windows 7 machine and worked fairly well even on a low end atom processor. It is a bit too expensive at its retail price and there are a lot more powerful programs in that range but the sale price of less than $15 bucks this is an excellent value and will satisfy most user’s needs for video and photo editing.

3.5 StarsnThe trend Micro Internety Security Pro is a decent security option when compared to Norton or Mcaffe but honestly the pro features are really not worth the additional money. The only pro feature that seems really worthwhile is the ability to remotely lock your files (in case your computer is ever stolen) but otherwise the Network status and Antivirus reports are more gimicky than true pro toolsnn*** Positive Points Include: n- Easy installationn- 3 user license so you can use it on 3 computers in your homen- Good security without using excess resourcesnn Negative Points Include: ***n- Must purchase the virus updates after a year (AVG and others allow free antivirus updates)n- Pro features are not really worthwhile

Would not - and still does not - sync with my primary bank (which is a huge bank). Downloaded mutual funds but totals were based only on transfers to (not withdawals from) an account. Result : xfr of money from S&P fund to EAFE of XXX magically generates $xxx of new money! O M G !!I feel like Janet Yellen at the Fed !
