PowerDirector 6 did used to be so sluggish and my system would crash. It would take hours to make a video, hoping it wouldn’t hang and then crash. Rendering was another worry. I sometimes would have to start from scratch, if I didn’t think to save (although saving would also crash it). Since upgrading my Vista Home Premium quad core system (went from 6 GB a full 12 GB of RAM and a better GPU), my worries are no more.

Fourth year with H&R Block’s Tax Software and I am completely satisfied. There were no install issues despite having a previous version on the PC. I used this year’s version to do returns for five family members that ranged from a super easy 1040EZ to a pretty complicated 1040 that included a home sale, a move and multiple short and long term capital gains / losses. The software performed smoothly and flawlessly for all five of the Federal and state returns.

In 2007 I was given Norton’s new protection software, called 360, to evaluate and review. I liked that so much functionality was bundled together: virus protection /detection, phishing protection, maintenance and backup all in one. I bought licences 2008 through 2013 and especially liked when the option to buy it for multiple devices was introduced. In 2014, shopping around to find a good renewal price, I learned Norton was pushing renewals to Security, that 360 was being phased out.

I upgrade when I want. Period. The last time was June 2012 for Quicken. There has been nothing in newer versions to make it worthwhile to pay for an upgrade. Intuit / Quicken doesn’t like that and tried to strong arm me into purchasing version 2015.

The best part is that this software includes free identity theft recovery service and a PC tune-up utility (free one-time usage, then you have to pay). I like the ability to at least be able to see what the tune-up utility will find—-then I can run it once and then look FREE software to do the same trick.

I think today’s world of taking photos is so easy, that we click away at anything anymore with out even thinking. Then I downloaded the photos into the computer to deal with at a later date–which we all know hardly ever comes.

I love to create things so I was really interested in this program. Unfortunately it looks like it didn’t go over too well as I see it has been discontinued. I was planning a deck pool area and I found this program to be extremely cool and I was able to get a better idea what I wanted by using it. It’s not available anymore, so I suggest looking around for like programs for your future projects.

Well I guess I didn’t expect much from a film based on a low budget Saturday morning TV show, but this has got to be Ferrell’s worst film to date. Sure the effects look pretty good with some nice dinosaurs and the Sleestaks, but the jokes that work are few and far between. If not for Ferrell, I don’t think I would have laughed at all. Not only is the film bland, but it doesn’t even know who its audience is, with some jokes that are very juvenile and others that are crude and may not be suitable for younger viewers.

Another upgrade from the previous version. Only took about 10 minutes to load. As with all anti-virus and anti-spyware software, you may need to configure some of the advance options. The menus are very user friendly and you don’t have to be a computer geek to figure them out–but if you need help, they are there waiting by the phone or send them an e-mail. Plenty of information is shared–such as when the last update was completed and when the next is scheduled.
