I’ve been using AutoCAD for about ten years. I’m not a professional drafter, but I use it a few times a year to produce custom automotive parts, and then submit the files to my CNCer for manufacturing. AutoCAD is an extremely powerful program, but it’s very expensive. I began using it because it was recommended by my CNCer and it’s basically the best on the market. With the poor economy and my declining interest, I produce much fewer designs then I use to and have focused my attention elsewhere.

I haven’t used much CAD software before but enough to recognize that CorelCAD is neither the worst nor the best of the bunch. The interface isn’t the easiest to use or the most powerful but it’s fairly smooth and capable.
The lack of documentation is a serious drawback and will hinder those who don’t have some experience with CAD already. The big positive is the very low price of the software relative to its feature set.

I have to say, this has to be one of the best Cad programs in a long time. From my experience with CorelCAD it appears to load much faster on my Mac compared to AutoCAD, and has a really nice GUI. Its also very easy to navigate, everything is laid out nicely. Its also always a plus when the program doesn’t leave a very big footprint on your system, I believe it only took around 250MB on my HDD.

I’m a complete CAD newbie and had fun playing with the CorelCAD. The one issue that was impeded my enjoyment was that slow speed of this program on my 3-year-old desktop (older quad core processor, 2GB of memory, GeForce 8800 GTX). My system exceeds the specs listed by Corel to run this program, so I was disappointed that this program operated at such a slow pace.
If it just ran a little faster, I would have had more fun using it.

CorelCAD is a great package for those getting started in computer drafting. CorelCAD offers an easy to use CAD interface that also helps beginners get used to the software. For experienced users, CorelCAD has all the tools and features you have grown accustomed too, and you may be impressed with how fast the software runs. Make sure your computer has the suggested memory and specifications, but CorelCAD runs faster than AutoCAD in my opinion.

It’s been several years since I used a CAD program. This is the program that I picked because of the price and trust I have in Corel products. Being offered it in the Vine program made my day.
If your like me, with rusty CAD experience or no CAD experience, there are some really good tutorials online to get started. I needed something for smaller modelling, jewelry, and game pieces. After going over a few tutorials, this works.

I’m sure this is a great program for anyone who understands how to work in CAD, but I found it difficult to use. Aside from some very basic shapes, I couldn’t make heads or tails of it.
I’m an illustrator, and I did a bit of three-dimensional design when I took an animation course. It was hard then, but it seems even harder now. Isn’t there some way to make this stuff more intuitive and easier to learn?

I purchased the project for my son who is looking into the field of graphics design. The program is great with both 2d and 3d access. The interface seems fairly simple but if you have no experience with a CAD program it is quite daunting.
We did play around with it a bit and made a few simple designs. I would say it would be a great tool for an engineer or a draftsman but for the Novice you should get Corel Paintshop Pro or a similar graphics program.

I’ve always really liked Corel products over the other options on the market, and have been using Corel (formerly Jasc) Paint Shop Pro for almost fifteen years. I had no idea they had a CAD product (apparently this is another company’s software they have purchased), but when I found out, I figured I would give it a try considering how much I like their other software. In the past I have mostly used AutoCAD, and AutoCAD LT.
