If you look at the definition of bloatware in the dictionary, there should be a picture of this product. This security suite hogs the computer’s resources and wraps itself around it so you can’t get rid of it easily. In essence, this software is the worse virus that ever hit my PC. I was shocked when I counted almost 100 threads belonging to this internet suite when the PC was idle.

One would think that after so many years at it, H&R Block would be a lot further ahead with its tax software package, but it is more or less the same old thing, revised every year, but no dramatic improvements.
Another surprise, installation woes. Windows 7 in 2012, and you still can’t install a simple program without issues. In my case, on a quadcore AMD 64-bit Windows 7 computer. On the third installation attempt, the Program Compatibility Assistant finally sorted it out on its own and the darned thing installed.

As with all software, the user interface and its workflow has its quirks. Some of it you may find counter-intuitive and not very helpful.
But if you have a fairly straight-forward tax situation and you already know what you are supposed to do tax-wise, then this is a convinient alternative to pen/paper and a lot cheaper than going to a specialist when you send in all the rebates.

The computer world has changed a lot since the early days of PCs and the glory days of WinZip. Much of the functionality can be found in Windows and in free and open-source software. The internet is a lot faster, storage a lot cheaper, the type of files we use is different. However, if you regularly zip/unzip files, and you like to support software makers, this is a solid program that does its job without getting in the way.

First time user. Program was very easy to use. Asks questions about your situation, answer and that’s about it.

Purchased upgrade online and downloaded as I have done over the past several years. Installed and it upgraded itself, converted 2012 file and we were off and running. I use this software for personal financial stuff as well as tracking stocks, 401K’s IRA’s etc… It works very well and I haven’t had any issues whatsoever with the latest edition. There are some new wrinkles that have shown up and so far I like them.

I have been a Norton user for a long time and have been happy with my results. Have never had any issues with viruses, malware and the like, so I guess it has been working. It gives me a monthly recap of what has happened. Plus, this version has a password manger (which I love) and some other utilities. It is a good buy.

Been using for quite some time. This version conversion and use has been glitch free so far. Keeps track of what I need.

Have always used TurboTax for my tax prep. work. I don’t believe someone should have to pay to have their taxes done and TurboTax fills that bill. My taxes are somewhat complicated and TurboTax fills that bill.

Works very well. Always in the background and virtually invisible. Works as good as Norton 360. I like the idea that I can buy one copy and put it on up to 10 computers. Have been using Norton foe a long time.
