I cannot stress enough how bad Symantec is!! This is by far one of the WORST software companies that exists today. The poorest customer service, and if you REALLY want a reason to go postal, try finding your way around their website.
ALSO!! Symantec is far from the best at catching viruses. There are much better products out from McAfee, Trend Micro, and Sophos. Go find them and don’t waste your time here any longer!

Microsoft Word 2010 builds on an idea that Microsoft is famous for, which is to refine the dashboard of the car, not the engine or performance of the car, building on an already successful overload of bloated and reckless programming. I can’t 100% vouch for this, because I don’t work for Microsoft, but this program is yet another example of where Microsoft completely depends on the fact that many businesses and end users are ONLY familiar with Word, and little else.

Kapersky is respected as an affordable alternative to sluggish and higher-priced programs by Norton and McAfee. Unfortunately, I was not able to get this edition to install onto our upgraded computers. It got the job done on a Vista system, and I had no detected viruses, slow downs, or other problems while it ran on the test computer. Of course, I don’t open spam, follow suspicious links, or visit questionable websites, which helps to cut down on the malware.

I didn’t have any problems installing the software. I often switch between McAfee and Norton. Overall, I like Norton better but they’ve had some really bad releases here and there. This is a good package and for basic protection it works fine. I usually turn off extra features that slow a pc down, and it has a pretty good interface for doing this.

Installation was fairly easy - I put it on my desktop and a laptop at the same time. The weird thing was that if you start the install by disc, you have to keep the disc in even if you select to download the most recent software from the website. Once it started doing the download, I tried removing the disc figuring it shouldn’t need it any longer. It then got hung up waiting for me to put the disc back in.

I’ve used a lot of different video editing packages, and this one is fairly standard. I like it a bit better than Pinnacle Studio or Elements, but it’s not as fast as something like Edius or Lightworks, particularly in terms of real-time previews and being able to actively edit video without having to constantly try to re-render the timeline.
The layout and controls are cleaner and a bit more intuitive than Pinnacle, though complete beginners won’t find it as easy as something like Windows Movie Maker or iMovie.

It works and does a good job of helping you keep your computer clean and running well. IF, you understand how to use it properly. I love how it finds junk left in the registry by old no longer installed software. Now, for people talking about AVG asking for too much personal information, I agree if that’s what’s happening. I hate that and have opted to return or not buy software that does that.

BLESS Acronis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Clone software that works and without giving youna frustration fueled foul mouth. The software saved my hide twice so far by allowing me to clone entire hard drives, OS included. Which allowed me to switch hard drives and continue work on my laptop when an older hard drive decided to quit as I knew it would sooner or later. Then there was the disk with all those video files I use repeatedly.
