I won’t summarize all of the problems with Windows 8. Many of the other reviews have already done that. The interface is needlessly cumbersome and really adds nothing to the experience. I’ll just mention a few problems that have come up when using Windows 8 on a Mac with Bootcamp.
First, the screen is set to an extremely dim mode. When using Windows 8, you can barely see the screen. There is a way to fix this in the Control Panels option (you have to disable auto-brightness), but the fact that nobody at Microsoft even thought that a barely visible screen was a problem is worrying.

f you like WIll Farrell’s other movies, you’ll like Land of the Lost. While not as good as Kicking and Screaming, it’s actually pretty funny. And, remarkably, it’s not all sex and fart jokes. This isn’t a PG movie - obviously, Will Farrell is the star. But a lot of the jokes are just dry humor, rather than Old School-style comedy. I also found all the abuse Chakra took pretty hilarious.

This is a big improvement over previous versions of Microsoft Office for MAC. The interface is easy to use. I particularly like the option of either having the side window or the tools on the top of the document page.

I’ve been using H&R Block software for several years and have been doing my own taxes all my life. When I think back to the early years when my returns were simple, those returns still took longer to prepare than my current ones. And my returns today are considerably more complicated (as are the tax laws). Yet, with H&R Block tax software, I not only can effortlessly prepare my taxes, but I also can relax knowing that I’ve not made a simple, perhaps stupid mistake, since the software will catch those.

I’d heard Norton 2009 was a dramatic improvement over previous editions and, since Zone Alarm still won’t work with my 64-bit Vista, I canceled my Zone Alarm purchase and got Norton Internet Security for the three computers in my house. Just out of curiosity I find myself checking it from time to time just to be sure it’s working. It is, of course. It’s just much more unobtrusive than any security suite I’ve ever used before.

Like so many taxpayers this year, I have abandoned TurboTax out of anger for their new policies (some of which they’ve already reversed). The reason they will never get me back again is that they tried to conceal those changes, which caused me to have to return the product after I’d bought it instead of just not buying it in the first place. But I didn’t really expect TaxCut to be as easy to use as it has been.

I only wanted to use Quicken to track my investments. Ive used Quicken on and off for years and it has become too buggy to use for everything.nThe advertisements are also too annoying. By only using it for investments, I only have to use it once a month. I have tried other software and unfortunately they are even worse. So, I’m stuck with Quicken or Excel. I have too many transactions for excel.

too many pop-ups. CCAPP.EXE is still the bigger POC ever written. It hangs once or twice a week. LiveUpdate notice is a new feature that will give you pop-ups on your desktop about new products, new features, upgrades etc. I guess too many people opt-out on email notices, so they decided to just put it on your desk top… advertising about their products. It will also be in 2008.
I would rather take my chances with nothing, than ever use a Norton product ever again.

I have had many many versions of Symantec. the latest is Norton 360. I bought it because it was a 3 computer license, and I have 3 computers. But, true to form, it is STILL one of the most annoying softwares on the market. thanks largely to one piece - ccapp.exe. if I put a CD in my laptop, Norton 360 hangs. No matter how many times I click on it, nothing, and ccapp.

It has bubble popup advertisements on your desktop. In the middle of the day, while you’re working, any time. I’ve contacted them 3 times and they can’t figure out how to stop it. It’s still happening. The last person I talked to, said it was email that was causing it? Not sure how that works, but if it’s true, then it’s spam, that won’t let me opt out, which is illegal.
