A security software to protect all your devicescomputers, tablets, smartphones. Great concept, however, not without a few snags.
I recently purchased my first smartphone and thought the Norton Security software would be ideal for adding an extra level of protection. Alas, adding Norton for just my smartphone wasn’t as easy as I would have liked. Firstly, this is not a cd where you can select only the devices you wish to protect. You need to visit Norton.coms setup on a web browser, set up an account and then use the product key on the back of the card enclosed in the box. (Yeah, what you get is a yellow box with a credit-sized card with your product key tacked onto a small card with a few lines of instructions.)nIn completing this process, you have successfully installed Norton Security onto your computer. However, you have now uninstalled your existing security program. Not good. I currently use a program I initially got from the Amazon Vine program and which Ive liked so well I renewed my subscription three times. Anyway, back to the original train of thought: after installing Norton Security onto your main computer, you then return to setup to protect your additional computers and digital devices.nIf using Norton for all your devices is your chosen path, this program will be useful. I chose to keep my original computer protection (especially since I had just purchased a two-year subscription and find it uses fewer resources and does not slow down my computer as some reviewers have stated Norton Security does).
I appreciate that the program provides a snapshot view of all the devices you have protected and that you can rename each to the most easily recognizable name to suit your needs. Also like that it locates smartphones, while offering virus scans and threat identification for computers, but the negatives of slowing down my computer, uninstalling my preferred software and having only a yearly subscription that can only be used on my smartphone doesnt make it a viable product for this user.
