I’ve been using TurboTax for something like 25 years now, since the good old days of printing on a dot matrix printer in graphics mode to keep the IRS happy. I tried switching to a competing program for two years some time back, but I begrudgingly paid the extra money to switch back to TurboTax. I have not found another consumer tax preparation product which is as complete and accurate as is TurboTax.
There are some things not to like, all of which have to do with Intuit trying to make more money: The endless pitches to buy more stuff, and this year’s migration of certain common features like schedules D and C to higher priced versions. There is a fair amount of ‘net screaming and hollering about that at the moment … but when the dust settles Intuit will make more money and continue to dominate this market.
