This is exceptionally nice software. Maybe it just feels that way because I’ve never used Photoshop on a tablet before (I used this on a Surface Pro 3, more on that in a minute), but I have always found Photoshop to be a bit cumbersome. Granted, it offers the power to do unreasonable things with images, but still…cumbersome. Too powerful for my needs. What I’ve always wanted was something somewhere between MS Paint and Photoshop. And that pretty accurately describes Sketchbook Pro. It offers multiple drawing tools, lots of colors, etc, but when I go looking for something that will draw like a pencil, I choose the tool that looks like a pencil. When I want something like a brush, I choose the tool that looks like a brush. Overall, great software. Much less of a learning curve than Photoshop, but probably almost as powerful for the vast majority of users. (And one tremendous amount cheaper.)nnThe biggest drawback is installation on a device that doesn’t have an optical media drive. As I noted, I installed this on a Surface Pro 3. It runs great…except that I had a really difficult time getting it installed. Most software packages are downloadable off of the internet. You go to the manufacturer, click download, and then type in your key. Not an option with Autodesk. I had to download a trial and wait for it to expire before I could put in my key. Meanwhile, it kept asking me to pay some ridiculous amount per year or per month to be able to use it anywhere. Annoying. Just let me download the software and type in the key! It shouldn’t be this hard!
