Review by R. Pickman
I’ve been using AVG Free for a couple years now. I’ve been very happy with the results especially when compared to McAffee and Norton with whom I’ve used (and paid for) in the past. I decided that maybe it’s time to upgrade to the premium version.
AVG is an extremely resource efficient piece of software. I’ve never noticed any performance lag in either the Free or Premium versions. It’s comprehensive in it’s protection. Email Scanning, Site advisors (I love this), Firewall and of course Virus Scanning. Of course the list of features goes on, but these are the features I find myself getting the most use out of. It’s extremely user friendly. Simple and straight to the point just as anti viral software should be. It’s caught various malware attempting to hide itself on my PC or install itself. Most of the time it pops up with a message saying that it found something, but deleted it so there’s nothing else you need to do. It just wanted to let you know. If it’s a questionable file, it will quarantine it and let you be the judge.
I would love to give this product 5 stars, however AVG’s generosity is its own downfall. As others have stated, unless you absolutely need customer support, I just don’t see the advantage of the $20 version over the free version. If you’re looking for great, resource efficient, easy to use anti-virus software, look no further.
