Review by A Family Effort
I had installed Office365 on my laptop and wasn’t happy with the lag time when it saved docs every five minutes in Word. While you might say to switch the saving times, that doesn’t work for me – I need to save my writing/editing on an ongoing basis.
Enter Office 2016, which now comes in a box as a single card with a key.
I uninstalled 365 (didn’t get reimbursed for the months I didn’t use, because I bought a yearly plan) and installed this. Set up was quick and easy. Even more wonderful, none of the files and folders I’d saved to my laptop had changes; not even the old emails had disappeared. Very impressive.
The new Excel and Word layout is easy to look at, and thank the good Lord, the lag time has gone. I took a look at OneNote and PowerPoint, and while they look interesting, I’ll always take notes on paper, and I prefer other layouts for the PP presentations.
Microsoft has done a good job with this version. Yea, so you don’t get the constant updates or the free Skype credit, blah blah blah. Getting rid of that lag time is worth it all. if you’re still trying to decide between this and the monthly version, buy the monthly version first – and don’t pay for it all up front; do the monthly payments. Then at least if you change your mind, you only pay for the months you’ve used it for.
