I found Norton Utilities easy to install. It is working fine and seems to be speeding up my computer.
I have Norton 360 Premium on my computer. It has a tune up feature but after calling Norton I was told Norton Utilities was more advanced. After easily installing Norton Utilities I did a performance scan that took about 15 minutes. After it was done my computer seemed to run quicker.
Aside from the performance scan there is a privacy cleaner that erases records of computer and internet activity. There is also a feature which defragment files making them run faster as well as a feature that lets a person decide which programs to load at startup. Finally there is an UnErase Wizard which allows a person to restore accidently deleted files hidden on a hard drive.
My one concern is that people, who don’t know much about Windows, like myself, may be a little leery of using certain Utilities features for fear of damaging files on a computer. I wish there was a simple to use help feature that explained Norton Utilities better. On the bright side there is a customer service number that I have called twice and I have waited less than five minutes on hold both times before a reasonably knowledgeable agent answered the phone. I plan on calling the number again to ask questions about Norton Utilities.
Update:nnIt is amazing how a couple of days can change things. I ran a scan and it removed some saved login information and passwords on my computer. I could not figure out why. I called Norton–waited 20 minutes and got the wrong department. I was told I would received a call back the next day since I could not wait any longer. I never got the call.
I called later that day and got the wrong department again. Since I waited about 25 minutes and did not want to wait again I was told I would get a call back the next day.
Rather than risk another no call I tried using the chat feature. After waiting about 5 minutes and explaining my problem in detail to some I was told I was not in the right department. She said she would transfer me to the right department. I waited a couple of minutes and got someone who asked me the same information all over again only to be told I was transferred to Norton Premium Support which was the wrong department again. I finally gave up.
The spotty support is an issue for me. I also wish this product had a better help feature. I dropped a star in my rating. Lets see if I get that call tomorrow.
