I’m not a professional photographer. Not even close. And I’m not a hobbyist either. I just wanted a tool that would help me make my family and personal photos look good. I also have some ancient family photos I’ve scanned.
Since the interface looked foreign to me, I watched several of the tutorial videos before starting. This is a really powerful tool.
While I won’t need many of AfterShot’s powerful features, I can appreciate the ones that make my photos look nice. Just changing contrast and lighting makes a huge difference. For restoring old photos, a bit of noise reduction and adjusting the exposure does wonders. Then a bit of color correction really punches it up. Though I’m a newbie, I feel very powerful as I watch 20 to 100 year old photos come back to life.
