I have many old 8mm video tapes that were made when my kids were small. Ive been using Pinnacle Studio to convert them to DVD. It works well to control my camera via a Firewire connection, capture the digital video feed, allow me to edit it and then transfer the resulting file to a DVD. Pinnacle Studio is easy to use and has a minor learning curveat least for my application. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I haven’t had a problem with it crashing. That could because my use is pretty basic, but I suspect that it mirrors most users.
