We are planning on building a home in a few years, and I’ve had a lot of fun playing around with this software. I’m actually surprised at how quickly it is to pick it up and start putting a decent-looking house together. There are tons of options for windows, doors, cabinets, colors, etc., so you really can get a fairly good of how your project will look.

My chief complaint is that it doesn’t come with a manual; it has a computer-based help index and a series of videos that you can watch online. I would rather have a manual. In addition,I didn’t find the roofing features to be explained very well. I am trying to design a house with a slightly unusual roof line and just cannot get this to work properly. Other than that, though, this does seem to very well-designed software. (However, amateurs like me who are just playing will probably do fine with a less expensive version.)
