Somehow, some way, Microsoft has managed to slink its way bank into my heart. Maybe it’s because Office 2016 came out for the Mac first. Maybe it’s because Apple’s Pages and Numbers just never measured up. (Although, even against PowerPoint 2016, Keynote wins hands down.) But, Maybe its because each of the office programs just work – consistently, reliably, and on a Mac – and have a degree of elegance of design that’s never been there before. The latest version of OS X (El Capitan) has now been updated to squash a Microsoft Outlook bug, so no worries there. Cloud-based sharing just works, and seamlessly across Mac and Windows computers, it supports retina displays, and, even though Word is still bloatware (and doesn’t still have a continued string for footnotes in the Mac version), it’s stable and the standard. I recommend it.
