I’m a bit fed up with Norton. So fed up in fact that I decided to try one of its competitors. And I have to say, I’m surprised by my choice, and not only surprised, but pleasantly intrigued.
Trend Micro’s Internet Security Pro v2 has all the right features and more that made me reconsider the value of incumbents. For example, Trend Micro has a nice graphical dashboard that identifies all the threads it neutralized on my computer, thus giving me this nice and cushy feeling of security. From the tests I did, Trend Micro detected and blocked all the malware samples I could come up with. Great Job!!! But from what I read online, it is not very successful at blocking keyloggers (couldn’t test this myself). Then again, apparently they are a minor threat so I didn’t lose any sleep over this.
I liked Trend Micro’s firewall configuration settings associated with the unique pre-set profiles the application has. The software also blocked malicious sites I tried to surf, which is a nice feature considering the number of `evil’ possibilities lurking out there in the open.
Overall, I recommend this application and would consider giving it as a gift to my family and friends.
